Multifunctionality of living spaces also characterizes the furniture. The bed is not just to sleep: it acts as a couch, where lords and ladies receive their commensals and even their diplomatic guests. This is the most comfortable furniture of the castle, as seats and wooden chairs are never padded. It is also the most prestigious: the bedspreads are expensive pieces of cloth, embroidered with the emblems of the Lord here, in this case the Duke of Burgundy, John the Fearless. 

The bed was not the intimate character that we know today: originally, the same legal functions were filled from a bed, which gave birth to the “bed of justice” Royal Parliament of Paris.
