Une lettre du roi Charles IX datée de 1569 découverte dans les archives d’Etampes (91)
A letter of King Charles IX was discovered last Saturday in the town of Etampes. Dated from the 9th of October 1569, the King wrote it in the middle of the 3rd war of Religion, after the victory of the Huguenots in Moncontour. Addressed to the “chers et bien aimés les officiers de la justice, mairie, échevins et principaux habitants de nostre ville d’Etampes” (dear justice, townhall, and échevins officers and main inhabitants of our town of Étampes), Charles IX reminds the town had promised to deliver food to his army before the 19th of October.

Maybe I should find other things to do than longingly appreciate the visual aspect of this.
