Qui chantoit à voix de sereine ;
Berthe au grand pied, Bietris, Allys ;
Harembourges, qui tint le Mayne,
Et Jehanne, la bonne Lorraine,
Qu’Anglois bruslèrent à Rouen ;

The naval Battle of Augusta (also known as the Battle of Agosta) took place on 22 April 1676 during the Franco-Dutch War and was fought between a French fleet of 29 man-of-war, five frigates and eight fireships under Abraham Duquesne and a Dutch-Spanish fleet of 27 (17 Dutch, 10 Spanish) plus five fireships with Dutch Lieutenant-Admiral-General Michiel de Ruyter in command. The battle was a short but intense affair and ended abruptly when Duquesne, after hearing that De Ruyter had been mortally wounded, retreated. Neither side lost a ship, though there were many dead and wounded, especially among the Dutch.

Château-Gaillard, Eure, Normandy.
The construction of Château Gaillard began in 1196 under the auspices of Richard the Lionheart, who was simultaneously King of England and feudal Duke of Normandy. Château Gaillard was captured in 1204 by the French king, Philip II, after a siege of six months. The siege of Château Gaillard was a part of Philip II’s campaign to conquer the king of England’s continental properties. The Anglo-Normans were beaten in the battle and the consequence was the fall of Normandy and its annexion to the French royal desmene soon after.

June is finally coming, and with it, the exam session and Camp nanowrimo.
I don’t plan to write the 50K for the Camp nano, I just want to finish a story, but it is going to take some time, time I would usually use for this tumblr and time I really should use for my studies.
So, I’m going to slow down the number of daily posts. The tumblr is currently at five posts a day; it’ll turn at three/two until the end of the month. I’ll also have to put it on hold between the 20th and the 24th because I’ll be away for my exams and finding a moment to fill the queue is going to be difficult.
But Lucky me will have a look at the Champagne-Ardennes region for the occasion. Anyone wants a postcard?
